Olentangy Local School Board incumbents Stacy Dunbar and Kevin O’Brien secured their seats along with newcomer Adam White.

O’Brien was the top vote-getter with 11,881 votes (29.89 percent); followed by Dunbar, 11,587 votes (29.15 percent); White, 8,183 votes (20.59 percent); and Martin Johnson, 8,098 votes (20.37 percent).

Dunbar, 48, said she appreciates the support and looks forward to the next four years working with the district. Her priorities are to continue working toward a sustainable model to keep district costs down while keeping academics at a high level.

Dunbar works as a change leader by training and coaching executives at Ashland Inc. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business and communications from Point Loma University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

White was happy about Tuesday’s election results.

“I’m just glad that I won,” White said. “I’m anxious to get started and thankful for the public’s support.”

White, 33, said his top priorities are to cut taxes, curb spending and construct a better curriculum.

White earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in business finance in 2001 from Ohio Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in business administration from Capital University in 2003.

O’Brien, 43, could not be reached for comment as of the paper’s deadline. He is a chief financial officer for Nationwide in the retirement plans division. During the race, O’Brien said his background in business and finance meshes well with the current board members.

O’Brien earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Westfield State College. He is a member of the COSI audit and finance committee and a coach for the Olentangy Youth Athletic Association. O’Brien is also an inactive certified public accountant.
