Betty Mae Moorhead

Betty Mae Moor­head, 93, died at 4:45 a.m. on Fri­day (July 6, 2012) at Bir­chaven Vil­lage, Findlay.

Born on Sept. 26, 1918, to Verne J. and Ruth May Sut­ton Brown in Toledo, she attended Libbey High School in Toledo before mov­ing to Find­lay in 1934. She grad­u­ated from Find­lay High School in 1936 and then attended Miami Uni­ver­sity. While a stu­dent at Find­lay, she met her future hus­band, Adrian J. Moor­head, and they were mar­ried in Bal­ti­more, Md., on April 4, 1942. Her affil­i­a­tions in Find­lay have included St. Andrews Methodist Church, Find­lay Coun­try Club, Ohio East­ern Star and the Blan­chard Val­ley Hos­pi­tal Aux­il­iary of which she was a mem­ber for 55 years.

She is sur­vived by her son, Thomas O. Moor­head and his wife Mary of Find­lay and daugh­ter, Nancy Ann Pow­ers and her hus­band Edward of Delaware; five grand­sons, Patrick Thomas (Megan) Moor­head of Galena, Andrew Jonathan (Raechel) Moor­head of Atlanta, Brian Edward Pow­ers of Indi­anapo­lis, Jef­frey Scott (Diane) Pow­ers of Chicago and David Joseph Pow­ers of Delaware. Her five great-grandchildren always made her smile, Kather­ine Adrian, Lau­ren Emily and Logan Patrick Moor­head of Galena and Luke Thomas and Reese Marie Moor­head of Atlanta.

Adrian (“Abie”) pre­ceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1998.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sun­day, July 8, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. San­dusky St., Find­lay. Her life will be cel­e­brated at a funeral ser­vice at 11 a.m. Mon­day, July 9, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. Bur­ial will be in Maple Grove Ceme­tery, Findlay.

The fam­ily requests that in lieu of flow­ers, memo­ri­als be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 120 W. San­dusky St., Find­lay; Bir­chaven Vil­lage; or Bridge Home Health and Hos­pice, both at 15100 Bir­chaven Lane, Find­lay. Betty very much appre­ci­ated the lov­ing and affec­tion­ate care she received from the staff at Bir­chaven Vil­lage plus the com­pas­sion and warmth from the Hos­pice personnel.
