Betty Mae Moorhead, 93, died at 4:45 a.m. on Friday (July 6, 2012) at Birchaven Village, Findlay.
Born on Sept. 26, 1918, to Verne J. and Ruth May Sutton Brown in Toledo, she attended Libbey High School in Toledo before moving to Findlay in 1934. She graduated from Findlay High School in 1936 and then attended Miami University. While a student at Findlay, she met her future husband, Adrian J. Moorhead, and they were married in Baltimore, Md., on April 4, 1942. Her affiliations in Findlay have included St. Andrews Methodist Church, Findlay Country Club, Ohio Eastern Star and the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary of which she was a member for 55 years.
She is survived by her son, Thomas O. Moorhead and his wife Mary of Findlay and daughter, Nancy Ann Powers and her husband Edward of Delaware; five grandsons, Patrick Thomas (Megan) Moorhead of Galena, Andrew Jonathan (Raechel) Moorhead of Atlanta, Brian Edward Powers of Indianapolis, Jeffrey Scott (Diane) Powers of Chicago and David Joseph Powers of Delaware. Her five great-grandchildren always made her smile, Katherine Adrian, Lauren Emily and Logan Patrick Moorhead of Galena and Luke Thomas and Reese Marie Moorhead of Atlanta.
Adrian (“Abie”) preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1998.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay. Her life will be celebrated at a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay; Birchaven Village; or Bridge Home Health and Hospice, both at 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. Betty very much appreciated the loving and affectionate care she received from the staff at Birchaven Village plus the compassion and warmth from the Hospice personnel.
