Charles ‘Chuck’ Watson
Charles “Chuck” Watson, 57, of Delaware died Thursday evening (July 5, 2012) at Wintersong Nursing Home.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1954, in Delaware and graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1972. Chuck was born with spina bifida and was believed to be one of the oldest individuals living with the birth defect. He was truly and amazing individual, who fought all of his life and never knew a day without pain. He was truly selfless and was always more worried about the needs of others before his own. Not one to be held back by his disability, for a number of years Chuck was the director of communication Grady Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the East Side Church of Christ and enjoyed playing the guitar and watching NASCAR races.
He is survived by his mother, Betty (Ries) Watson; brothers, Leigh (Laurie) Watson of Brinkhaven and Roger (Liz) Watson of Ostrander; nephews, Kyle, Deric and Aaron; nieces, Valerie, Carrie and Kristi; fiancé, Erin Davis of Pennsylvania; as well an uncle and several aunts and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Watson in 2006.
The family would like to offer sincere thanks to Harbor Lights Hospice and the entire staff at Wintersong Nursing Home for the wonderful care Chuck received; we will be forever grateful. In keeping with Chuck’s wishes, private services will be observed for his family at a later date in Fairview Cemetery near Ostrander. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center.
Memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Light Hospice or East Side Church of Christ.
