Dorothy M. (Nichols) Spiers was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Southern Ohio, the last of nine brothers and sisters by parents Wesley and Hanna Nichols. Dorothy moved to Columbus and worked for the Timken Company during the war. She later worked at Delo Screw Products.

She was preceded in death in 1990 by her husband, Richard (Dick) H. Spiers Jr., who was a primary contributor along with his father, Richard H. (Henie) Spiers Sr., in the development and operation of the Delaware Ranco Plant in 1948.

Dick and Dorothy enjoyed their life in Delaware, bowling and golfing with friends and spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and feeding the birds.

Surviving are her son, Paul R. Spiers and wife, Kathleen, of Delaware; two grandsons, Michael Spiers of Ostrander and Edward Spiers of Delaware; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A private family service will be held at Robinson Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following the service.
