Library search tools put statewide resources at Delaware’s fingertips
“SearchOhio.” “Search OhioLink.” You may have seen these phrases on the Delaware County District Library’s catalog and wondered what they meant. Those words are actually your link to about 60 million library books and other items throughout the state of Ohio.
As part of Delaware Library’s pledge to upgrade technology and expand our collection, we entered into a resource sharing agreement with two consortia-SearchOhio and OhioLink. SearchOhio provides access to 10 million items in 19 other public libraries scattered throughout the state. OhioLink provides access to an additional 49.5 million items in 89 university, community/technical and private college libraries in Ohio, as well as the state library.
How does it work? It’s as easy as a keystroke! If, when you are looking for a book or DVD or audio book in the Delaware Library’s catalog and you find that the item you want is already checked out or not available, all you need to do is click on the “SearchOhio” button to see if a copy is available in any of the other 19 public libraries. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, click on the “Search OhioLink” button to search the 89 academic and special libraries’ collections. When you find and request the book you’re looking for, within a few days, the item will arrive by a statewide contracted private delivery service, to get it here for you as quickly as possible.
If you’d prefer, a librarian will be happy to help you access these far-reaching and robust resources, and SearchOhio and OhioLink are available through DCDL’s catalog from any Internet computer, too, in or out of the library.
The library pays a yearly fee to belong to these two consortia but there is no cost to you to use this service. And we think that investing a few thousand dollars each year to add more than 60 million items to the 300,000 that the library owns is a tremendous way to get the most bang for your buck!
Take advantage of this free service as often as you can. It’s simply another example of Delaware County District Library’s commitment to providing you excellent and cost-effective library service.

How did Sonny and Cher meet?
In her autobiography, The First Time, Cher notes that In November 1962, Salvatore Bono spotted her (Cherilyn Sarkisian) in a Los Angeles coffee shop. He was 27; she was 16. Sonny got Cherilyn work as a session singer for Phil Specter. By 1964 they were performing together as Caesar and Cleo, but soon dropped the gimmicky pseudonyms and released “I Got You Babe” as Sonny & Cher in 1965. Bono wrote their songs, and Cher did most of the vocalization.
