Shirley Ann Deel

Shirley Ann Deel, 75, of Delaware passed away early Sat­ur­day morn­ing (July 7, 2012) at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.

She was born June 25, 1937, in Delaware to James Everett and Alice Made­line (Jones) Bai­ley. She retired from Ohio Wes­leyan Uni­ver­sity after 23 years of ser­vice as head cook and then worked for an addi­tional seven years in the SACC Pro­gram with the Delaware City Schools. She was a mem­ber of the Grace United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She also enjoyed watch­ing NASCAR, camp­ing and cro­chet­ing. She was known for bak­ing cakes espe­cially for wed­dings and birth­days. She was “always on the go” and her daugh­ters remem­ber her as always tak­ing them to the Rich­wood Fair.

She is sur­vived by two daugh­ters, Donna (William) Hostet­ter of Mar­ion and Linda Jo (Danny) Cameron of Rich­wood; six grand­chil­dren and five great-grandchildren; brother, Jay (Diane) Bai­ley of Prospect; and sis­ter, Judy (Dick) Patrick of Radnor.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents and a sis­ter, Janet Ellen Bailey.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tues­day, July 10, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Cen­ter, 1510 W. William Street at Val­ley­side Drive, Delaware. Grave­side ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Wednes­day, July 11, at the Green­mound Ceme­tery, Kilbourne. 

In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses or to Odyssey Hos­pice, 540 Office Cen­ter Place, Suite 100, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
