Charles ‘Chuck’ M. Stone

Charles “Chuck” M. Stone, 88, of Galena went to be with his Lord and Sav­ior on Mon­day evening (Aug. 27, 2012) sur­rounded by his fam­ily at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1923, in West Jef­fer­son to the late Robert and Grace Stone. He was a World War II Navy vet­eran and a self-employed busi­ness­man. Chuck loved to gar­den grow­ing veg­eta­bles and flow­ers, bowl­ing, read­ing old west­ern nov­els and eat­ing. Chuck was good at any­thing he put his mind to do. Ornery and jovial Chuck was a lov­ing and car­ing fam­ily man, who loved his fam­ily and would do any­thing for them. Chuck loved to travel and enjoyed the New Eng­land states and going out to the West­ern states.

He is sur­vived by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Hale) Stone and they were mar­ried July 16, 1956; daugh­ters: Linda (Henry) Fasone, Cheri Wells, Sandy Adkins, Ter­rie Bradley and Jeanette Bradley all of Colum­bus; 11 grand­chil­dren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was pre­ceded in death by daugh­ter, Deb­bie Williamson; brother, Clarence Stone; and sis­ters, Evie Thomp­son and Flo­rence Goodyear.

Memo­r­ial ser­vices will be held in Octo­ber at the Galena Ceme­tery and will be announced at a later date. Arrange­ments entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
