Eleanor Keener

Eleanor Keener, 90, for­merly of Marengo, died Sat­ur­day after­noon (Aug. 18, 2012) at Coun­tryview of Sunbury.

She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Fayette County, to the late Elden and Inez (Cook) White­side. She was retired from the State of Ohio, a mem­ber of Marengo United Methodist Church and a 70-year mem­ber of Order of the East­ern Star Chap­ter #146. Eleanor kept her­self busy after retire­ment by being involved with senior activ­i­ties. Eleanor was the pres­i­dent of the Marengo Senior Cit­i­zens, a mem­ber for 22 years, on the Board of Direc­tors for the Mor­row County Senior Cit­i­zens, involved with the Red Hat Ladies and help­ing with any­thing at the senior cen­ters, meals, table dec­o­ra­tions and look­ing for volunteers.

She is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Judith Ann Pyles Neu­big of Sun­bury; grand­chil­dren, Jef­frey (Lisa) Pyles of West­er­ville, Sara (Arjun) Nagra of Sun­bury, Gre­gory Pyles of New Albany; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Owen, Gavin, Avery; brother, Thomas White­side of Mount Ster­ling; sis­ter, Aileen Ger­ard of Jamestown.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Robert Keener, in May 1989; broth­ers, Richard, Max; sis­ters, Mary Louise Booco, Janet Harkins.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Mon­day at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sun­bury, and two hours prior to the 2 p.m. ser­vice on Tues­day. Inter­ment will fol­low in the Sun­bury Memo­r­ial Park.
