Nora Mae Dent
Nora Mae Dent, 95, of Cardington passed away Tuesday morning (Aug. 28, 2012) at her residence.
She was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Columbus to James and Cynthia (Ball) Adams. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and especially writing. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family. In 1964, she was a founding member of the Marlboro Primitive Baptist Church and has been a faithful member ever since.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Pat) Dent of Prescott, Ariz., Cynthia Layton of Prospect and Karen (Gordon) Labuhn of Whidby Island, Wash.; son, Marshall Dent of Lake City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 15 years, John Robert Thornbury; second husband of 55 years, Verner Truman Dent; stillborn daughter, Carmen Thornbury; brother, Roy Adams; and a son-in-law, Lee Layton.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11 a.m. on her birthday, Thursday, Aug. 30, in the Marlborough Primitive Baptist Church at the corner of Horseshoe and Leonardsburg Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Marlborough Cemetery.
