Nora Mae Dent

Nora Mae Dent, 95, of Card­ing­ton passed away Tues­day morn­ing (Aug. 28, 2012) at her residence.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Colum­bus to James and Cyn­thia (Ball) Adams. She was a home­maker who enjoyed gar­den­ing, flow­ers, read­ing and espe­cially writ­ing. She also enjoyed tak­ing care of her grand­chil­dren and spend­ing time with her fam­ily. In 1964, she was a found­ing mem­ber of the Marl­boro Prim­i­tive Bap­tist Church and has been a faith­ful mem­ber ever since.

She is sur­vived by daugh­ters, Kathy (Pat) Dent of Prescott, Ariz., Cyn­thia Lay­ton of Prospect and Karen (Gor­don) Labuhn of Whidby Island, Wash.; son, Mar­shall Dent of Lake City, Fla.; nine grand­chil­dren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was pre­ceded in death by her first hus­band of 15 years, John Robert Thorn­bury; sec­ond hus­band of 55 years, Verner Tru­man Dent; still­born daugh­ter, Car­men Thorn­bury; brother, Roy Adams; and a son-in-law, Lee Layton.

Cel­e­bra­tion of Life Ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. on her birth­day, Thurs­day, Aug. 30, in the Marl­bor­ough Prim­i­tive Bap­tist Church at the cor­ner of Horse­shoe and Leonards­burg Road. The fam­ily will receive friends one hour prior to the ser­vices. Bur­ial will fol­low in Marl­bor­ough Cemetery.
