Army CW5 Gary Carlton Galbraith
Army CW5 Gary Carlton Galbraith, retired, 55, of Delaware passed away Monday morning (Sept. 17, 2012) at Kobacker House in Columbus. He fought a short but rough and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer and was surrounded by his loving family in his final days.
He was born May 21, 1957, in Hackensack, N.J., to the late Girard (Bud) Galbraith and Shirley Galbraith of Delaware who survives. Gary graduated from Hayes High School in 1975. He later joined the Army and served as a pilot, retiring as a CW5 after more than 30 years in the service.
Gary is also survived by his wife of four years, Cynthia (Amaro) Galbraith, whom he married Sept. 16, 2008, and their children, Gregg and Kelly, all of Delaware; son, Jason of Kentucky; and siblings, Glenn, Karen, Andi and Garth. Also left to cherish his memory are nephews, a niece and many good friends including a longtime friend from school, Will Long Jr. of Marysville.
Besides his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gregory.
His body will be cremated. He will be honored in a military memorial service and his ashes will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virgina at a later date.
