Army CW5 Gary Carlton Galbraith

Army CW5 Gary Carl­ton Gal­braith, retired, 55, of Delaware passed away Mon­day morn­ing (Sept. 17, 2012) at Kobacker House in Colum­bus. He fought a short but rough and coura­geous bat­tle against pan­cre­atic can­cer and was sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily in his final days.

He was born May 21, 1957, in Hack­en­sack, N.J., to the late Girard (Bud) Gal­braith and Shirley Gal­braith of Delaware who sur­vives. Gary grad­u­ated from Hayes High School in 1975. He later joined the Army and served as a pilot, retir­ing as a CW5 after more than 30 years in the service.

Gary is also sur­vived by his wife of four years, Cyn­thia (Amaro) Gal­braith, whom he mar­ried Sept. 16, 2008, and their chil­dren, Gregg and Kelly, all of Delaware; son, Jason of Ken­tucky; and sib­lings, Glenn, Karen, Andi and Garth. Also left to cher­ish his mem­ory are nephews, a niece and many good friends includ­ing a long­time friend from school, Will Long Jr. of Marysville.

Besides his father, he was also pre­ceded in death by a brother, Gregory.

His body will be cre­mated. He will be hon­ored in a mil­i­tary memo­r­ial ser­vice and his ashes will be buried in Arling­ton National Ceme­tery in Vir­gina at a later date.
