Donald R. Graham
Donald R. Graham, a longtime resident of Union County passed away on Saturday (Sept. 8, 2012) at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 6, 1916, in the Ostrander area of Delaware County to George and Amanda (Seeger) Graham. A graduate of New Dover High School in Union County, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe with the 8th Armored Division. In 1944, he married Helen Poulson and settled in the Ostrander community. He was a building contractor in the Ostrander/Marysville area for almost 40 years and was a charter member of the Ostrander Business Association. An active bridge player, he played cards with senior groups in Union and Delaware County and the St. Cloud area in central Florida. Don also enjoyed square dancing and fishing during his retirement.
He is survived by one son, Marvin (Diann) Graham of Ostrander; two daughters, Betty (Lynn) Dildine of Apple Creek and Donna (Bob) Papps of Columbus; one brother, James (JoAnne) Graham of Ostrander; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Charles Poulson of Columbus; two sisters-in-law, Jean Graham of Marysville and Marjorie Poulson of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Helen; his wife of 11 years, Verna Ives; his son, Albert; his grandson, Eric Dildine; four brothers, Walter, Robert, Verne and Elmer Graham; and one sister, Janet Dennis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at Robinson Funeral Home, Delaware, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, with the the Rev. Dawn Swartz officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scioto Township.
