Mariellen Rutherford
Mariellen Rutherford, 85, of Powell died Friday (Sept. 21, 2012) at her beloved home on Steitz Road.
With her at her bedside were her granddaughter Heidi and daughter-in-law Luba. She was born in Richwood in 1927 to the late Carl and Pearl Beam. Mariellen lived the majority of her adult life on Steitz Road on the Steitz/Rutherford property. She was employed, and felt privileged to have been deputy registrar for Delaware County. She also worked for Ohio Wesleyan University, for the late honorable Judge Wickham and the Scioto Village (Girls Industrial School.) Later, she retired from Adria Laboratories as an executive secretary. Mariellen was a member of the Eastside Mission Church, a member and volunteer of the local Democratic Party and secretary of the Hyatts Alumni.
She is survived by her loving son, Gary (Luba Nastoff) Rutherford of Lafayette, La.; granddaughter, Heidi (Edward) Campos of Akron; sister, Josephine (John) Lawrence of Powell; brother, Wesley (Ruth) Beam of North Carolina; step-grandchildren, Johnny (Leslie) Nastoff of South Carolina, Jimmy Nastoff of Houston and Teresa (Sean) Smith of Atlanta, Ga; step-great-grandchildren, Megan Nastoff of Hilton Head, S.C., Milana Smith of Atlanta and Marissa and Alex Campos of Hilliard; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mariellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Thomas Rutherford; her son, C. Thomas Rutherford; and her brother, Rufus Beam.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, where family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. Donnie Akers will be officiating. (The funeral home is located on West Olentangy Street/Powell Road/Ohio 750, one-fourth mile east of Sawmill Parkway.)
