Oneida Sue Sparks

Oneida Sue Sparks, 71, of Sun­bury, went to be with her lord on Tues­day morn­ing (Sept. 25, 2012) at her residence.

She was born on June 4, 1941, in Galena to the late Earl Brit­ton and Chloe Glad­i­eth (Lemas­ter) Ramey. She was a 1959 grad­u­ate of Big Wal­nut High School and a mem­ber of the First Bap­tist Church. On her 18th birth­day, she mar­ried Gene Sparks June 4, 1959, in Sun­bury, and on June 21, 1960, they bought the Sohio Sta­tion on the Square and were owners/operators until 1996. Sue loved to cook and was con­sid­ered an excel­lent cook who served enough food that nobody went away hun­gry from her table. Sue also loved to sew and spend time with her nieces and nephews.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band of 53 years, Gene Sparks; brother, Rus­sell Nickey Ramey of Sun­bury; sis­ters, Dinah Kay (Jim) Mead of Fred­er­ick­town, Elaine (Tim) Tack­ett of Cen­ter­burg and Mar­sha Fay Ramey of Flat Gap, Ky.; beloved aunt to Chad, Eric, April, Mark, Melissa, Tammy, Angela, David and Nicole and numer­ous great-nieces and nephews; and life-long friend, Brenda Lee of Sun­bury. She is also sur­vived by her lit­tle com­pan­ion, Oreo.

She was pre­ceded in death by her brother, Earl Ray Ramey; and great-niece, Tawny Totten.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri­day at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sun­bury, where ser­vices will be held at 10 a.m. Sat­ur­day with the Rev. JR Smith offi­ci­at­ing. Inter­ment will fol­low in Sun­bury Memo­r­ial Park.
