Oneida Sue Sparks
Oneida Sue Sparks, 71, of Sunbury, went to be with her lord on Tuesday morning (Sept. 25, 2012) at her residence.
She was born on June 4, 1941, in Galena to the late Earl Britton and Chloe Gladieth (Lemaster) Ramey. She was a 1959 graduate of Big Walnut High School and a member of the First Baptist Church. On her 18th birthday, she married Gene Sparks June 4, 1959, in Sunbury, and on June 21, 1960, they bought the Sohio Station on the Square and were owners/operators until 1996. Sue loved to cook and was considered an excellent cook who served enough food that nobody went away hungry from her table. Sue also loved to sew and spend time with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene Sparks; brother, Russell Nickey Ramey of Sunbury; sisters, Dinah Kay (Jim) Mead of Fredericktown, Elaine (Tim) Tackett of Centerburg and Marsha Fay Ramey of Flat Gap, Ky.; beloved aunt to Chad, Eric, April, Mark, Melissa, Tammy, Angela, David and Nicole and numerous great-nieces and nephews; and life-long friend, Brenda Lee of Sunbury. She is also survived by her little companion, Oreo.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Ray Ramey; and great-niece, Tawny Totten.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. JR Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
