Betty J. Curtis

Betty J. Cur­tis, 77, of Delaware passed away early Mon­day morn­ing (Oct, 22, 2012) in the Inten­sive Care Unit of Grady Memo­r­ial Hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a short illness.

Born on June 24, 1935, in Mason County, W.Va., she was the daugh­ter of the late Fred and Lucin­dia (Flow­ers) Gard­ner. She worked 21 years in the laun­dry depart­ment for Grady Memo­r­ial Hos­pi­tal. A woman of deep faith and a devoted mem­ber of Grace United Methodist Church, she loved being involved in the church and its many activ­i­ties. As one who watched Chris­t­ian TV, she trea­sured the Lord. Betty also enjoyed read­ing and a good meal amongst fam­ily. A fan of music, espe­cially the ’50s and ’60s, she liked to sing in her younger years. Small in stature and uncom­pli­cated, she was set in her ways and loved by all. Sim­ply put she was just a won­der­ful mom.

She is sur­vived by daugh­ter, Debra (Ray­mond) Belcher of Hebron; sons, Ronald (C.J. Dun­can) Cur­tis Jr. and Wayne (Trisha) Cur­tis both of Delaware; two grand­chil­dren, Amy and Shawn; four great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Sandy) Gard­ner; sis­ter, Imo­gene Hartin­gan; nephew, Patrick also of Delaware; and niece, Candy Heine­man of Marion.

On March 26, 2001, she was pre­ceded in death by her beloved hus­band, Ronald “Shorty” Cur­tis, as well as a brother, Ray­mond Gardner.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thurs­day at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Cen­ter, 1510 W. William St. at Val­ley­side Drive, Delaware. Grave­side ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Fri­day at Fairview Memo­r­ial Park with her pas­tor, the Rev. David Carter officiating.
