Betty J. Curtis
Betty J. Curtis, 77, of Delaware passed away early Monday morning (Oct, 22, 2012) in the Intensive Care Unit of Grady Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Born on June 24, 1935, in Mason County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucindia (Flowers) Gardner. She worked 21 years in the laundry department for Grady Memorial Hospital. A woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church, she loved being involved in the church and its many activities. As one who watched Christian TV, she treasured the Lord. Betty also enjoyed reading and a good meal amongst family. A fan of music, especially the ’50s and ’60s, she liked to sing in her younger years. Small in stature and uncomplicated, she was set in her ways and loved by all. Simply put she was just a wonderful mom.
She is survived by daughter, Debra (Raymond) Belcher of Hebron; sons, Ronald (C.J. Duncan) Curtis Jr. and Wayne (Trisha) Curtis both of Delaware; two grandchildren, Amy and Shawn; four great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Sandy) Gardner; sister, Imogene Hartingan; nephew, Patrick also of Delaware; and niece, Candy Heineman of Marion.
On March 26, 2001, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald “Shorty” Curtis, as well as a brother, Raymond Gardner.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Memorial Park with her pastor, the Rev. David Carter officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund, 385 W. William St., Delaware, OH 43015.
