Dorothy Margaret (Stout) Acker

Dorothy Mar­garet (Stout) Acker, 81, of Delaware passed away Sun­day after­noon (Oct. 21, 2012) at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.

She was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Delaware County to Paul and Lucille (Maples) Stout and grad­u­ated from Belle­point High School in 1948. She worked at the Ham­burger Inn before becom­ing the man­ager of the Frisch’s Big Boy in Delaware. She later served for many years as a press oper­a­tor for Ranco Man­u­fac­tur­ing, Delaware and finally as the man­ager for USA Storage/Delaware Store and Save. She was a life­time mem­ber of St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware, who enjoyed horse rac­ing, golf­ing and bowl­ing. She also was a mem­ber and past pres­i­dent of the AmVets Post 102 Aux­il­iary in Delaware.

Those left behind to cher­ish her mem­ory are her 11 chil­dren, Mike (Mary Lou) Acker of Pick­er­ing­ton, Chris (Nicki) Acker of Delaware, Paul Ray­mond Acker of Mar­ion, Tony (Chris) Acker of Delaware, Jeff (June) Acker of Ash­ley, Rick (Jackie) Acker of Pow­ell, Larry Acker and his com­pan­ion Kim Davis of Delaware, Eric (Betty) Acker of Lex­ing­ton, Ky., Phillip Scott Acker of Ash­ley, Karla Kay (Allen) Lind­sey of Winder, Ga., and Sher­rie Lee (Jerry) Graves of Galena; 21 grand­chil­dren includ­ing a grand­daugh­ter she raised, Michelle Hill of Delaware and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Hazel) Stout of The Vil­lages, Fla.; and sis­ter, Rose­mary Mardis of Delaware.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; hus­band, Carl Acker Jr.; daugh­ter, Kathryn L. Acker; three broth­ers, Paul, Richard and her twin Donny; and two sis­ters, Patty and Ann.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednes­day, Oct. 24, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Cen­ter, 1510 W. William St. at Val­ley­side Drive, Delaware, where a vigil of prayer ser­vice will be held at 4 p.m. and an AmVets Post 102 ser­vice at 7:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Thurs­day, Oct. 25, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with the Rev. Fr. James Black offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in St. Mary Ceme­tery. The St. Mary Bereave­ment Com­mit­tee will then host a recep­tion in the Snyder-Rodman Com­mu­nity Room imme­di­ately fol­low­ing the ser­vices at graveside.

Con­tri­bu­tions in Dorothy’s mem­ory may be given to the Arthri­tis Foun­da­tion or to the church.
