Dorothy Margaret (Stout) Acker
Dorothy Margaret (Stout) Acker, 81, of Delaware passed away Sunday afternoon (Oct. 21, 2012) at the Delaware Court Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Delaware County to Paul and Lucille (Maples) Stout and graduated from Bellepoint High School in 1948. She worked at the Hamburger Inn before becoming the manager of the Frisch’s Big Boy in Delaware. She later served for many years as a press operator for Ranco Manufacturing, Delaware and finally as the manager for USA Storage/Delaware Store and Save. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Delaware, who enjoyed horse racing, golfing and bowling. She also was a member and past president of the AmVets Post 102 Auxiliary in Delaware.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 11 children, Mike (Mary Lou) Acker of Pickerington, Chris (Nicki) Acker of Delaware, Paul Raymond Acker of Marion, Tony (Chris) Acker of Delaware, Jeff (June) Acker of Ashley, Rick (Jackie) Acker of Powell, Larry Acker and his companion Kim Davis of Delaware, Eric (Betty) Acker of Lexington, Ky., Phillip Scott Acker of Ashley, Karla Kay (Allen) Lindsey of Winder, Ga., and Sherrie Lee (Jerry) Graves of Galena; 21 grandchildren including a granddaughter she raised, Michelle Hill of Delaware and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Hazel) Stout of The Villages, Fla.; and sister, Rosemary Mardis of Delaware.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Acker Jr.; daughter, Kathryn L. Acker; three brothers, Paul, Richard and her twin Donny; and two sisters, Patty and Ann.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive, Delaware, where a vigil of prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. and an AmVets Post 102 service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware with the Rev. Fr. James Black officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room immediately following the services at graveside.
Contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or to the church.
