Ethel L. Mitchell Wintermute VanDyke
Ethel L. Mitchell Wintermute VanDyke, 95, of Marengo, died Tuesday morning (Oct. 30, 2012) at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1917, in Sunbury to the late William and Zoa (Johnson) Mitchell. Ethel was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, a homemaker and had worked for local nursing homes after the death of her first husband. Ethel was born and raised on the family farm on Rosecrans Road and moved to Marengo when she married in 1946.
She is survived by daughters, Eva (Fred) Criswell of Marengo and Dorothy (Walter) Babbs Saunders of Cardington; eight grandchildren, Kellie (Rob) Bishop, Mary Criswell, Hope Jessica Criswell, Sherry (Scott) Sherer, Ron (Lisa) Babbs, Shelley (Jeff) Benson, Rob (Jessica) Babbs and Roger Babbs; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ronald Wintermute on Nov. 14, 1960, and Charles Van Dyke on Nov. 20, 2000; brothers, Cliff, Clay, Pearl, Doc and Golden; and sisters, Margaret Belcher and Freda Bonzo.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Charles Roush officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunbury Memorial Park.
