Hazel Francis (Haner) (Evans) Stout
Hazel Francis (Haner) (Evans) Stout, 87, passed away Saturday morning (Oct. 27, 2012) in the Hospice House in The Villages, Fla.
She was born Nov. 27, 1924, the daughter of Ervin and Irene (Campbell) Haner of Patriot. Hazel began working at Albers Supermarket in 1953 in the dairy department. Over the years, Albers sold to Colonel Stores then to Food World, where Hazel worked as the front end manager and trainer until her retirement in 1985.
Hazel lived in Grove City for more than 40 years and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Grove City until her retirement. She and Larry moved to Summerfield, Fla., in 1993 and became a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg, Fla. Hazel loved walking, five miles every morning. She also enjoyed exercising, golf, tennis, bowling and swimming. Hazel enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to see many countries and cruises to favorite vacation spots. Hazel, Larry and her little dog Tina, traveled throughout the United States, enjoying the wonderful sites and historical cities.
Hazel is survived by her loving husband, Larry A. Stout of Delaware; daughters, Sandra J. (Evans) Louis Calderone of Westerville and Patricia L. (Evans) Holt of Columbus; brother, Benjamin (Merrie) Haner of Upper Arlington; granddaughter, Linda R. ( Andy) Stahoviawk of Columbus; grandson, Michael D. Holt of Memphis, Tenn.; and great-granddaughter, Erica J. Higgenbothem of Columbus. Hazel is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends. We loved you more and will miss you.
Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph B. Evans Jr.; her parents, Ervin and Irene Haner; brothers, Willard, Pearlie and Lawrence Haner; sisters, Florence Hoops and Ida (Halley) Deyo; grandson Anthony Calderone II; and son-in-law, David J. Holt.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday Nov. 1, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St., Delaware, where rosary services will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, with the Rev. Fr. James Black officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Delaware. The St. Mary Bereavement Committee will then host a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room following the services at graveside.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made in Hazel’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215 or to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, Florida 32162.
