Mary Catherine Cronin

Mary Cather­ine Cronin, 94, of Delaware and for­merly of Mar­ion passed away Tues­day after­noon (Oct. 23, 2012) at Grady Memo­r­ial Hos­pi­tal, Delaware.

She was born March 18, 1918, in Corn­ing to William James and Cather­ine Ann (Ver­fer) O’ Farrell.

She worked at Deni­son Engi­neer­ing as a vane machine oper­a­tor from 1957–1963 and after mov­ing to Delaware in 1986, she became a faith­ful mem­ber of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed play­ing euchre, cro­chet­ing and work­ing on word search puz­zles. She enjoyed hav­ing her fam­ily around when­ever pos­si­ble and espe­cially get­ting together dur­ing the holidays.

Left behind to cher­ish her mem­ory are her two sons, John W. Cronin of Delaware and Woody (Shirley) Cronin of Mar­ion; daugh­ter, Cathy (Manuel) Ter­razas of Indi­anapo­lis; and nine grand­chil­dren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Brough Elwood Cronin; daugh­ter, Janet Louise Crump; grand­son, Robert Lee Cronin; and a sis­ter, Eliz­a­beth Teresa VanWay.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Fri­day, Oct. 26, at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Cen­ter, 1510 W. William St. at Val­ley­side Drive, Delaware, where a vigil of prayer ser­vice will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Sat­ur­day, Oct. 27, St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, with the Rev. Fr. James Black offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in St. Mary Ceme­tery in Marion.
