Joseph K. Armstrong Jr., 86, of Fulton, went to be with the Lord Friday evening (May 13, 2011) while in the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1924 in Wood County, W.Va., to the late Joseph K. Armstrong, Sr. and Nettie (Wheaton) Armstrong. Joseph was a retired truck driver and auto mechanic at C&D Chevrolet. He served in World War II in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy and was a member of both the AmVets and V.F.W. in Delaware. Joe was an avid stock car driver and could be found at many race tracks prior to the formation of NASCAR.

On Christmas Day in 1946, Joseph married the former Emily L. Feick and she survives in Fulton. Other survivors include his children, Nan and Mike Ostrom of Cardington, Connie and John Criswell of Marengo, Earl Armstrong of Fulton, Darrell and Barb Armstrong of Delaware, Emily Honaker of Fredericktown and William Armstrong of Mount Gilead; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary K. Full, Vienna of West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
