Neva Lucas Humphreys

Neva Lucas Humphreys passed from earthly life on Sept. 29, 2012. after a long and full 95 years.

Raised in Tif­fin, Neva Lucas grad­u­ated from Ohio Wes­leyan where she met John R. Humphreys. John R. grad­u­ated from Rad­nor High School and grew up on the fam­ily farm on Lawrence Road, Delaware. He was the son of Stan­ley and Vir­ginia Humphreys, mem­bers of the Old Stone Church, PC (USA). Neva and John lived in Mar­ion and later moved to Akron where John R. worked for Ohio Edi­son, now First Energy. They both were active in West­min­ster Pres­by­ter­ian Church and raised their daugh­ter, Holly and son, John W. in Akron. Neva and her hus­band cel­e­brated their golden anniver­sary in 1993.

She will be missed by her daugh­ter, Holly; and daughter-in-law, Anita Gram of Boston; daughter-in-law, Con­nie Humphreys of Jack­son, Mich.; and grand­daugh­ters, Car­olyn Humphreys of Encini­tas, Calif., and Jen­nifer Humphreys of Austin, Texas.

Neva was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band in 1996 and by her son in 2002.

Bur­ial will be at 12:30 p.m. Fri­day, Oct 19, at Rad­nor Town­ship Ceme­tery. All are invited to Neva’s Memo­r­ial Ser­vice at 2 p.m. Sat­ur­day, Oct. 20, to be held at Rock­ynol Retire­ment Com­mu­nity, 1150 West Mar­ket, Akron.

In lieu of flow­ers, dona­tions in Neva’s mem­ory are requested to: West­min­ster Pres­by­ter­ian Church, Neva & John Humphreys Endow­ment Fund, 1250 West Exchange St., Akron, OH 44313; Good Neigh­bors, 1453 Goodyear Blvd., Akron, OH 44305; or Rock­ynol Life Care Fund, 1150 W.
