Ruth V. Cole

Ruth V. Cole, 88, of Rad­nor, passed away peace­fully Sat­ur­day evening (Sept. 29, 2012) at the Delaware Court Health Care Cen­ter and was wel­comed home with open arms by her hus­band Wil­son, son Kenny and grand­son Chris Som­mer, who all pre­ceded her in death.

She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Defi­ance to Oscar and Rose (Tay­lor) Ander­son. She grad­u­ated from Brown High School in Kil­bourne in 1942 and lived most of her life in Delaware County. She was a home­maker and farmer’s wife who attended the Rad­nor United Church of Christ. She was involved in sev­eral com­mu­nity activ­i­ties includ­ing the Farm Bureau, Rad­nor Grange and Rad­nor Mother’s Club.

She was an atten­tive and lov­ing mother, grand­mother and great-grandmother to two daugh­ters, Pat (Dick) Som­mer of Urbana and their daugh­ter, Melissa (Ed) Don­ald­son, of Mont­gomery Vil­lage, Md., and Becky (Tod) Tap­ola of Water­ville and their daugh­ters, Jes­sica Tap­ola of Colum­bus and Shan­non (Randy) Mead of Water­ville and their daugh­ter, Audrey. She is also sur­vived by a sister-in-law, Gene (the Rev. Robert) James of Ander­son, Ind.; and sev­eral nieces and nephews.

She was also pre­ceded in death by three broth­ers, Don­ald, Carl, and Harry Ander­son; and two sis­ters, Eliz­a­beth Tonti and Helen Lowry.

The fam­ily will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednes­day Oct. 3rd at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Cen­ter, 1510 W. William St. at Val­ley­side Drive in Delaware, where funeral ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Thurs­day, Oct. 4, with the Rev. Linda Mered­ith offi­ci­at­ing. Bur­ial will fol­low in Thomp­son Chapel Cemetery.
