Ruth V. Cole
Ruth V. Cole, 88, of Radnor, passed away peacefully Saturday evening (Sept. 29, 2012) at the Delaware Court Health Care Center and was welcomed home with open arms by her husband Wilson, son Kenny and grandson Chris Sommer, who all preceded her in death.
She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Defiance to Oscar and Rose (Taylor) Anderson. She graduated from Brown High School in Kilbourne in 1942 and lived most of her life in Delaware County. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife who attended the Radnor United Church of Christ. She was involved in several community activities including the Farm Bureau, Radnor Grange and Radnor Mother’s Club.
She was an attentive and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to two daughters, Pat (Dick) Sommer of Urbana and their daughter, Melissa (Ed) Donaldson, of Montgomery Village, Md., and Becky (Tod) Tapola of Waterville and their daughters, Jessica Tapola of Columbus and Shannon (Randy) Mead of Waterville and their daughter, Audrey. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Gene (the Rev. Robert) James of Anderson, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Carl, and Harry Anderson; and two sisters, Elizabeth Tonti and Helen Lowry.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 3rd at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Drive in Delaware, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, with the Rev. Linda Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in Thompson Chapel Cemetery.
