Demolition of historic house denotes end of era

The demolition of the 1800-era Delaware County Home began this week. Built in 1854 on County Home Road and previously known as Shady Lane Manor, the historic house served as the county’s home for the poor, mentally ill and the elderly until 1996, when it was closed due to deteriorating conditions and later sold to the Buckeye Valley School District for $1. The county is using leftover grant funds to both remove asbestos and tear the home down. (GAZETTE | Devon Immelt)

  1. WHY do people have to tear down old houses that could be moved and lived in and appreciated???
I’ve seen some beautiful homes in our area that could have been moved. I understand some needing torn down or using them for “fire practice”.
Give a Notice to the public and give somebody a chance to move it!!!
