Patricia L. Coner Conklin, 62, of Marysville, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

She was a longtime member of Ostrander United Methodist Church where she was very active in many church activities and functions. A homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter, she was a former associate of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority in Columbus and was a past employee of Hochstetler Builders in Plain City. She was an Avon sales representative for many years where she was once named Salesperson of the Year and was a member of Avon’s President’s Club. She was named “Mother of the Year” by Gov. James A. Rhodes in the mid 1970’s and was a supporter of the Broadway School of Opportunity. In the early 1980’s, she was a member of the Union County Board of Developmental Disabilities where she served as secretary and was involved with the planning, design and construction of the Harold Lewis School. She was a past member the Buckeye Valley Young Farm Wives Chapter and member of the Ohio Young Farm Wives State Council. She was a 1967 graduate of Brookhaven High School. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading and traveling. Until her struggles with arthritis began, she liked cake decorating and candy making. Above all, she looked forward to spending time with the “light of her life,” her granddaughter, Payton. She was born June 21, 1949 in Columbus.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Russell J. Conklin, whom she married Aug. 1, 1971 at Maize Manor United Methodist Church in Clintonville; her son, Heath (Trisha) Conklin of Marysville; her granddaughter, Payton Kathryn Conklin; her parents, Frank and Mary Coner of Marysville; a sister, Sue (Roy) Young of Ostrander; a brother, Scott Coner and his fiancée, Josephine Logan, both of Columbus; her father- and mother-in-law, Joe and Mid Conklin of Marysville; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Linda Conklin Taylor of Marysville, Bill (Nikki) Conklin of Ostrander, Janet (Keith) Ott of Plain City and Mary (Jim) Rodman of Radnor; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Francie Coner, Richard Bauder and her special “other son” and his family, Myles, Amy and Caeleb Hebrard.

She was predeceased by her 13-year-old son, Dale; by a stillbirth son in 1972; and a brother-in-law, Edmond Taylor.
