Winter maintenance
Dave Rease, a mechanic at Leroy’s Service Center, 40 E. Central Ave., prepares to install a new battery in a vehicle recently brought into the shop. Most damage to batteries occurs during hot weather. During the first cold snap, many batteries fail because they can’t take the extra load. Rease said he’s replaced six batteries since Wednesday.
