Column sharing: Now that’s green

With the new year comes new ideas and I thought of this one in the mid­dle of the night. That’s when most of my good ideas come — at night when my brain is finally free to roam. For awhile now I have been hav­ing a hard time get­ting my columns written-not for lack of ideas, but time. I thought maybe the moment had arrived for me to retire my vir­tual pen and mark it all up as a good run. But I really enjoy writ­ing and shar­ing info in The Green Note­book. So, what to do? That’s when I thought about col­umn shar­ing. Why not invite some­one to help me out every other week and, thereby, keep the col­umn going and keep it interesting?

So, start­ing next week, a new friend, Jayna McDaniel-Browning, who I met through the Delaware MOMS Club, will be join­ing in every other week for shar­ing green ideas in The Green Note­book. Here is Jayna’s bio so you can become familiar-her blood runs greener than mine so I think you’ll enjoy hear­ing from her!

Jayna McDaniel-Browning is a for­mer Gan­nett news­pa­per exec­u­tive turned stay-at-home-mom. While her two won­der­fully bois­ter­ous sons, ages 8 and 5, demand most of her time and energy, she finds time to lead the “Go Green!” group of Delaware’s MOMS Club, vol­un­teers at Wood­ward Ele­men­tary and the NUU church, and plans to open a small Etsy shop this year as an out­let for her cro­chet and art obses­sions. Jayna con­sid­ers her­self very lucky to have mar­ried the best man she’s ever known; they’ll cel­e­brate their 10th wed­ding anniver­sary this year. The 15 years she spent liv­ing in Ithaca, NY, fueled her love of green liv­ing, gar­den­ing, and Birken­stocks. Jayna loves cook­ing (and shar­ing plant-based recipes with friends and fam­ily), good wine, music, and prefer­ably all three mixed with a few good friends. She is an avid reader of sci­ence fic­tion, fan­tasy, and dystopian fic­tion, a fan of both Star Trek and Star Wars, and proudly claims the title of Geek.
