In temperatures in the upper 20s and amid intermittent snow, more than 380 people participated in the annual Polar Plunge at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Saturday. They jumped into a pool containing water four feet deep, kept from freezing by an aerator. The event was a fundraiser for Special Olympics Ohio. Adult jumpers raised at least $75 each. High school and college students raised at least $50 each. Organizers said last year’s event raised about $60,000. Many jumpers wore costumes, and a costume contest preceded the event.
