Olentangy Oak Creek Elementary School second-grader Madyn Murtland, portraying Clara Barton, is photographed by her grandparents, Gail and Gary Ebright, during a history program at the building Thursday. About 120 second-graders participated in the school’s “A Night at the Wax Museum,” portraying historical figures of their choice. They mimicked figures in a wax museum, pretending to come to life and describe their characters for onlookers. Laura Simpson, one of the school’s second-grade teachers, said the project combined reading, writing and history. Students did their own research and wrote their own presentations.
