Dr. Robert Caulkins to retire after 57 years

Gregory T. “Greg” Benson, 61, of Delaware passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 29, 2011) at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

He was born in Brookline, Mass., on Dec. 7, 1949 to the Rev. Thomas and Marteile (Butler) Benson of Bangor, Maine. Greg was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam era. He had lived in the Delaware for the past 12 years coming from Columbus. In 1979, he came to Columbus from Maine to attend The Ohio State University and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in music. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Delaware. He most recently worked as office manager for Audio Innovations and taught guitar at Upper Arlington Music Academy. Greg loved his family and enjoyed hiking in Maine and the Smoky Mountains, biking, vegetable and flower gardening and playing and teaching guitar. Greg loved life and lived it to the fullest and touched many lives during his lifetime.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Debra (Drake) Benson and they were married Oct. 20, 1989; son, Charlie LeFevre; and daughter, Christina (Andre) Saultz, all of Delaware; grandchildren, Christopher, Andre and Dajah Saultz; sister, Ann Benson of Bangor; special friend, Meredith Allbright of Bangor; and many relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 45 W. Winter St., Delaware, with the Rev. Charles E. Wilson officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William Street, Delaware.
