Martha Shober, 85 of Delaware died Monday (May 14, 2012) at Arbors at Delaware.
She was born July 31, 1926, in Cleveland to Nicholas Mackovic and Dorothy (Obradovich) Mackovic. Mrs. Shober received her master of education degree from LaVerne College in 1976. Her master’s thesis resulted in the creation of a learning unit on the history of Delaware.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Administration from the Ohio State University in 1949. She served as a caseworker for three and a half years following graduation. She completed course work in teacher preparation at Heidelberg College, Tiffin and held elementary teaching certification prior to her retirement from teaching in 1991. She was a teacher at the elementary school level for 29 years, many of those years teaching at Conger Elementary and Carlisle Elementary in Delaware.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Owens of Delaware; a son, Bruce Shober of Hutto, Texas; a granddaughter, Nikki Owens of Delaware; an adopted sister, Patricia Cojic; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; sisters; and former husband, Philip Shober.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at William Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julie Carmean officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
