Olentangy was sharp in its 2011 postseason debut, sweeping away Hilliard Darby for a 3-0 Division I sectional semfinal win Tuesday at Jonathan Alder High School.

“The first game of the tournament is always a bit of a mismatch,” Braves coach Michelle Mimna said. “We were just much stronger offensively. Allie Brown had 17 kills, which was her season high, and Kasia Walczak was right behind her with 10.”

Olentangy, which improved to 15-8 after winning just nine games a season ago, won the first game 25-18 before taking the next two by respective scores of 25-17 and 25-12 to seal the deal.

In addition to the powerful hitters, the defense was up to the task, getting a team-high 21 digs from Jamie Riley.

With the win, the Braves will take on the winner of today’s semifinal between Thomas Worthington and Dublin Jerome in this weekend’s sectional final.
