Trayvon Martin’s parents shocked by trial verdict
Verner Truman Dent, 91, of Cardington, passed away Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 30, 2011) at his residence.
He was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Scott Depot, W.Va, to James and Lula Virginia Joyce Dent. Verner was a farmer, while he lived in West Virginia and came to Central Ohio more than 60 years ago, retiring from Tecumseh Products of Marion. An avid organic gardener, he really enjoyed mowing the yard. On July 28, 1974, he joined the Marlboro Primitive Baptist Church and has been a faithful member ever since.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nora Mae (Adams); daughters, Kathy Dent of Prescott, Ariz., Cynthia Laton of Prospect and Karen Labuhn of Whidley Island, Wash.; a son, Marshall Dent of Lake City, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday in the Marlboro Primitive Baptist Church at the corner of Horseshoe and Leonardsburg roads. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Marlboro Cemetery.
