Astro, who came to the HSDC from the Franklin County Dog Shelter on April 20, is one energetic and playful puppy who will bring a smile to everyone’s face. Like all puppies, he loves to play all day and entertain his family. Enroll him in puppy kindergarten and you will have the companion of your dreams. Considering adopting a dog this year? Have the time and patience to train a puppy? Astro may just be the dog for you. Stop by the shelter and become acquainted with Astro … he wants to become a loyal member of a loving home and family.

The HSDC adoption fees for dogs are $105 for adults seven months and older and $125 for puppies under seven months. These fees include the spay or neuter of the animal, initial vaccinations and worming, a heartworm test and micro-chipping. A purchase of a dog license ($10) is required with each dog-puppy adoption.

Sissy is one attractive Calico cat with beautiful green eyes. A friendly and curious kitty who tips the scales at 6 pounds, Sissy has an outgoing personality and loves attention. She is not front-declawed. Sissy came to the shelter on January 29. Thinking of adopting a cat this year? Come on out to the shelter and meet Sissy and all her roommates in the enlarged cat room at the shelter. You are sure to fall in love with Sissy.

The standard HSDC cat adoption fees are $85 for kittens under seven months of age and $60 for adult cats seven months and older. Currently, the HSDC is offering $25 off on all adult cats and a $50 reduction on all “crabby” cats. See the information desk at the shelter for details.

The fees include a feline leukemia test, the first booster shots (if a kitten has been at the shelter long enough, it may already have had the second and third boosters as well as spaying or neutering, rabies vaccination and de-worming.

The Humane Society is operating from a waiting list for the surrender of all animals. Please contact the shelter to be put on a waiting list if you have an animal you need to surrender. The mandatory surrender fees are $40 per dog, $60 for a litter of puppies, $25 for a single cat/kitten and $40 for a litter of kittens.

The HSDC is in need of foster homes for kittens too young to be put up for adoption. Please call the HSDC or stop in for details. The shelter is also in need of cat litter. Unclumping litter is preferred.
