O’Brien sees public debate as better than ‘rubber stamp’ board

Donald E. Robinson, 69, of Delaware, died Wednesday (Aug. 17, 2011) in Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1942 in Marion to Helen Ruth (Stithem) and Richard Robinson. He graduated from Willis High School in 1961 and lived most of his lifetime in Delaware. Don retired in 2008 after 41 years with PPG Industries, Inc and was co-owner of Robinson’s Flower Shop. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Don was a highly accomplished and honored martial artists. A 7th degree Master, he instructed hundreds of students in the Delaware area. His life was his family. He loved God and his church.

Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley; a daughter, Dodie (Danny) Robinson-Shaw of Cardington; a son, Dean (Marah) of Delaware; five grandchildren, Drew, Shandee, Drake, Salena and Jayden; a brother, James of Florida; brothers-in-law, Bill (Carole) Piper, Scott (Emmalee) Eagon and Rodney Eagon; and his special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald E., Jr. “Robbie”; and a brother, Barry.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 230 Hayes St., Delaware, where the funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Wayne Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
