Turns out 13 was a lucky number for Buckeye Valley Thursday, as the Barons bumped their regular season record to a prefect 13-0 with a 4-1 win over host Mount Vernon.

BV swept the singles action, with Jack Baesman notching a 6-2, 6-4 win over the Yellow Jackets’ Myles Kahr at first singles; Zack Baesman knocking off Nate Nestor 6-1, 6-1 at second singles; and Eddie Fairbanks cruising past C.J. Kachel 6-1, 6-1 at third singles.

The Barons also won one of the two doubles matches, with Zach Hassinger and Andrew Lucas handling Nick Robinson and Achel Fernando 6-2, 6-2 at second doubles.

Buckeye Valley was close to collecting the sweep, with the only blemish coming at first doubles, where Mount Vernon’s Will Teater and Graham Hughes outlasting Noah McDevitt-Stredney and P.J. Roden by a 6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) margin.
