Ohio Wesleyan University senior Tony D’Abarno (Venetta, Pa./Peters Township) was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America teams, it was announced by the USILA.

D’Abarno, a defenseman for the Battling Bishops, was an honorable mention All-America selection.

D’Abarno helped anchor an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed 37 goals in conference play and just 97 on the season, the fewest allowed by the Bishops in a season since 1988, when Ohio Wesleyan allowed 90 goals along the way to the NCAA Division III national championship game. D’Abarno ranked second on the team with 44 ground balls and was a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference pick for the third straight season.

D’Abarno also was named to the South roster for the Division III North-South game, to be played at 5:30 p.m. today on the campus of Goucher College in Towson, Md.

D’Abarno also received Scholar All-American honors from the USILA.

Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 10-4 record. The Battling Bishops shared the NCAC championship, Ohio Wesleyan’s 18th conference title in the 27 seasons of NCAC competition, and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs for the 25th time.
