Harry “David” Arehart, 71, of Ashley died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday (June 7, 2011).
David was born on Jan. 6, 1940 in Bellpoint to Stanley David Arehart and Laura Ella (Ruggles) Conant. David was a 1958 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army. David was currently employed at International Paper in Delaware as a machine operator. He served as a Mounted Deputy Sheriff for Morrow County and was a police officer for the Ohio Wesleyan campus. David was involved with 4-H serving as an advisor and also as a judge for competitions as well as doing team penning. He was a member of the Ohio Horseman’s Council.
In addition to his mother Laura, David is survived by three children, Melody Franklin of Marengo, David Arehart of Cardington and Michael Arehart of Delaware; four brothers and sisters, Shirley Olson of Galion, Roger Arehart of Lexington, Susan Rosen of Marion and James Conant of Caledonia; trail riding companion, Debra Watkins of Lexington; and two stepbrothers, one stepsister and four grandchildren.
In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by his stepfather, Marion Conant; and two brothers, Kenny and Dale Conant.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11. The Rev. Virgil Sheriff will officiate.
