Ballot issue, charter review mulled by Powell council

January 31, 2012

Helen Darlene Clark, 83, lost a short battle with cancer late Monday afternoon (Oct. 31, 2011) at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1927, in Delaware, to John and Helen Harter. She was one of 10 children. She was affectionately nicknamed “Mean Darlene” but will fondly be remembered by many. She enjoyed crafts, reading, managing Clark’s Gardens and writing poetry. She also enjoyed sweets and an occasional Budweiser.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Carole (Gary) Gray of Delaware and Kate (Casey) Arnold of Ashley; her sister, Peggy (Clarence) Fraley of Ashley; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many people from all walks of life, young and old, with whom she shared her spiritual knowledge and street sense.

She will be joining her husband, Cy, and three sons, Bugsy, Jeff and Stew.

Private family graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or People in Need. “Dad put your arm around her shoulder and a hand over her mouth.”

Rodman Neeper Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. To share a memory of Helen or to offer condolences to the family, please visit
