Golden Eagles stumble out of the gates

Charles W. Adams, Jr., 75 , of Delaware, died Monday (June 20, 2011) in Riverside Methodist Hospital.

He was born June 25, 1935 In Mingo Junction to Charles and Minnie (Carl) Adams. He graduated from O.S.U. With a degree in agriculture. He was a retired ranger for the Boy Scouts of America at Camp Lazarus. He had been a Cub Master, Scout Master, Post Adviser, Olentangy District Round Table Commissioner, an Ohio State Fair Supervisor and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1980. He was currently assistant Scout Master for Troop 318. He was a member of the Delaware Christian Church. He was a member, Past Master and Chaplain for Hiram Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Chapter, Council, Scottish Rite and Marion Commandery.

He is survived by a son, Chris (Stephanie); two grandchildren, Caleb and Anna; and two sisters, Sally (Joe) Kmatz of Amsterdam and Dorothy (Glenn) Gates of Canton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, on March 31, 2011.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hiram Masonic Temple, 51 W. William St.

Following visitation there will be a memorial service with the Rev. Peter Snook officiating followed by a Masonic service.

Contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 318 at 73 W. Winter St. Envelopes will be available at the visitation and services. Arrangements are in charge of Robinson Funeral Home.
