Roger Lee Buckingham, 68, of Waldo passed away early Tuesday morning (June 12, 2012) at his residence.

He was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Marion to Robert and DeGloria (Augenstine) Buckingham. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a demo specialist in the 101st Airborne Unit for the U.S. Army. He had worked for the N and W Railroad and was a member of the Amvets Post 102, Delaware, and a 40-year member of the Waldo American Legion Post 605, where he participated in many activities including the Memorial Day Parades. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan who loved his dogs and all animals and also enjoyed feeding the fish at his Uncle Jack’s pond.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Loretta (Barron); son, Jeff (Penny) Bryant of Marion; daughter, Denise (Jeff) King of LaRue; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sister, Pauletta (Dennis) Hudnell of Iberia.

A celebration of life gathering, military honors and reception will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Waldo American Legion Post 605, 367 W. Main St., Waldo.
