Buckeye Valley may have lost five starters from last year’s squad, but the Barons certainly didn’t look like an inexperienced bunch during Tuesday’s season-opening match against host Jonathan Alder, as they cruised to a 5-0 non-league win.

In singles action, Buckeye Valley got wins from Jack Baesman, who knocked off Dennis Auorkos 7-5, 6-0 at first singles; Eddie Fairbanks, who outlasted Davis Troyer 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at second singles; and Zack Baesman, who handled Jonathan Alder’s Justin Byers 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.

As for the doubles winners, BV’s Noah McDevitt-Stredney and P.J. Roden combined for a 6-0, 6-3 win at first doubles while Zach Hassinger and Andrew Lucas picked up a 6-1, 7-5 win at second doubles.
