Charles J. Dildine, 92, of Cardington passed away (Tuesday) Nov. 1, 2011.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1919 in Ashley to Raymond and Gladys Dildine. He graduated from Ashley High School and Ohio State University before marrying Vivian Richmond and enlisting in the Air Force after Pearl Harbor. He served four years in World War II in London and returned from the war to teach and become a principal in the Buckeye Valley School District for many years at Brown, Ashley and Radnor. He later moved to Loudonville-Perrysville School District where he retired in 1978 to Florida with his wife for many years.

He is survived by four children which includes two sons, Larry Dildine of Gold Beach, Oregon, and Lynn (Betty) Dildine of Carroll; and two daughters, Lana Kay (Charles) Clark of Waynesville and Lee Ann (Bill) Davenport of Ashley; and also eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; grandson, Eric Dildine; granddaughter, Tanya Clark; brother, Dale Dildine; and sisters, Madeline Lee, Betty Connally and Mary Miller.

There will be no public services. Arrangements are being handled by Rodman Neeper Funeral Home.
