Alice Marie “Ally” Morrow, 87, longtime resident of Willow Brook Christian Village in Delaware passed away peacefully Tuesday morning (Nov. 15, 2011).
She was born on Sept. 26, 1924 in Columbus to the late William and Cecile (Finn) Morrow. A graduate of North High School in 1942, she attended The Ohio State University and then began a career centered on youth services. For 34 years she worked with Camp Fire Girls, serving as the executive director for the St. Louis chapter from 1957 to 1970. Moving to Lancaster in 1970, she served as the director for the Lancaster YWCA. In 1996, she moved to the Willow Brook Christian community in Delaware. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and The Ohio State Alumni Association, as well as a former member of the Pilot, Quota, and the BPW. Her positive nature and caring personality attributed to her vast number of friends. Family vacations to Northern Michigan were treasured. She will be remembered for her mentoring of youth and her warm smile.
She is survived by brother, James William Morrow; nieces, Ann (Randolph) Bueche and Kathy (Michael) Martin; great-nieces and nephews, Justin and Nathan Bueche, Michelle (Alex) Kinne, Beth (Kevin) Peterson and Brian Martin; great-great-niece, Malin Peterson; special cousin, Joyce (Ernest) Mease; and friend, Tommie Stranahan.
A service celebrating the life of Alice Morrow will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, in the Terrace Room of Willow Brook Christian Village, 100 Willow Brook Way S., Delaware, with the Rev. William McCartney officiating. Her family will greet friends afterwords until 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.
