Brian Cross knew his kids were good enough to play with New Albany last year. This year, his Orange Pioneers proved him right.

Behind a big night from senior running back Brandon Schoen, the Pioneers knocked off the visiting Eagles 32-7 in Ohio Capital Conference Capital Division action Friday at Pioneer Field.

Schoen rushed 19 times for 248 yards and four touchdowns in the game, including a 46-yard scoring run in the first quarter and a 76-yard gallop in the third.

Schoen opened the scoring with his 46-yarder, but New Albany took the lead back when Danny Britton scored on an eight-yard scamper and Jimmy Gammill added the extra point.

The Pioneers secured the lead for good later in the period, capped by a two-yard Schoen touchdown run that gave Orange a 12-7 halftime lead.

Schoen added a two-yard touchdown in the third and his 76-yard sprint after that to put the Pioneers ahead 26-7. Orange capped the victory in the fourth when Kofi Hill found Taylor Hardy on an eight-yard touchdown pass.

Michael Forbes also had a solid rushing night with 77 yards on 19 carries. Hill finished 4 of 6 through the air for 67 yards and his one touchdown.

Britton topped New Albany rushers with 104 yards on 18 carries and his touchdown.

Orange will play another OCC Capital game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, this time hosting Watkins Memorial.
