Series champ Coughlin upset in Round 1 of Norwalk race

Duran W. Ball, 86, of Centerburg died Tuesday morning (Oct. 4, 2011) at Centerburg Pointe.

Duran was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Ironton to the late Evan Samuel and Flora (Lycon) Ball and was a retired machinist for Rockwell International with 35 years of service. Duran enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, guns, lamps, pottery and baseball cards. He had a green thumb and raised vegetables and flowers in his garden. Duran loved to fish and took all members of his family at one time or another fishing. He also loved to sing and watch sports, especially baseball.

He is survived by daughter, Brenda (Gregory) Reynolds of Mount Vernon; sons, Duran L. (Penny) Ball of Marion and James Barker of Galloway; grandchildren, Cheryl, Avery, Lindsay, Danielle, Lance, Jessica, Sara, Bryan and Craig; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ethan; brother, Eugene (Crystal) Ball of Condit; and sister, Darlene (Wes) Starr of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Grace (Howard) Ball on Jan. 23, 2004; son, Danny Ball on Nov. 30, 1980; stepmother, Mary Ball; brother, Mac Ball; and sister, Dorothy Kindred.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating. Interment will be in Sunbury Memorial Park.
