Suspect sought in $15k jewelry theft

The Powell Police Department is investigating a jewelry theft of more than $15,000 of merchandise.

An unidentified suspect entered Kimberly’s Diamond Corner, 1 N. Liberty St., at approximately 9:46 a.m. Monday and stole the jewelry. According to the police, surveillance video from the store shows the suspect casing the jewelry store prior to the theft.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 230 and 250 pounds. Video of the theft showed the suspect wearing a dark hoodie or hat pulled over his head, brown gloves and light blue jeans. He placed a white towel over his face with his right hand. In surveillance video prior to the theft, the suspect appears to be wearing a white Dallas Cowboys hat and glasses.
