The Friends of the Delaware County District Library will have a Bargain Book Fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Orange Branch lobby, 7171 Gooding Blvd.

“We haven’t done anything quite like this before,” FOL President Stella Dickman told The Gazette. “It’s an impromptu sale, but our other sales are more formal. We said, let’s just set it up and see how it goes.”

For this particular sale, there will be a lot of children’s books available, Dickman said. There are also adult nonfiction and fiction titles for sale.

“We have so many books that are donated to us, and books that the library deems they don’t want anymore, that we decided to have this book fair Feb. 8,” she said.

The books cost $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardcovers; or $10-$12 to fill an FOL bag.

There will be a Friends Art Fair at the Orange Branch on Mar. 7-8.

“There’s a lady in Delaware who collected artwork and she gave her entire collection when she went into a nursing home,” Dickman said. “She gave it to the library, and the library has given us a percentage of those pictures, and we’re going to be selling them.”

Dickman said the FOL has been around since 2007. It helps fund special activities for the library.

There are two book sales at the Delaware and Orange branches annually. The Delaware sales are May 16-18 (during the Arts Festival) and Oct. 10-11; and Orange’s sales are June 6-8 and Sept. 5-6.

“We have people from all over come to the book sales,” Dickman said.
