George W. called Putin ‘trustworthy’

March 19, 2014

To the editor:

Rob Kessler recently faulted President Obama for using diplomacy against Russia’s President Putin. We must infer, therefore, that Mr. Kessler wants the United States to go to war against Russia, a battle theater that would be right next door for Russia but, inconveniently, an ocean and a continent away from our own shores. Or maybe Mr. Kessler prefers a nuclear approach.

George W. Bush, as President, said of Putin, “I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

Since Mr. Kessler faults Obama for being a “milquetoast” to Putin, I hope he will refresh our memory about the letter to the editor he certainly must have written, lambasting and ridiculing Bush for his milquetoastery.
