The Powell Police Department is investigating a robbery of $50,000 worth of merchandise from Kimberly’s Diamond Corner, 1 N. Liberty St.

The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras when he entered the store at 9:15 p.m. Monday.

The suspect was described as a male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and between 230 and 250 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoodie or hat pulled over his head, tan gloves and dark pants.

Kimberly’s Diamond Corner was also robbed of more than $15,000 of merchandise on Jan. 13. According to the police, surveillance video from the store shows the suspect casing the jewelry store prior to the theft.

The suspect in the January robbery is described as a white male, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing between 230 and 250 pounds. Video of the theft showed the suspect wearing a dark hoodie or hat pulled over his head, brown gloves and light blue jeans. He placed a white towel over his face with his right hand. In surveillance video prior to the theft, the suspect appears to be wearing a white Dallas Cowboys hat and glasses.

The suspect from that robbery has not been charged or arrested.

“There’s some similarities in the two events, but we have yet to link them,” said Powell Det. Ryan Pentz.
