First snowfall of season results in level-2 snow emergency

A level-two snow emer­gency for Delaware County was issued at 2:45 p.m. Wednes­day by Delaware County Sher­iff Russ Mar­tin, replac­ing the level-one snow emer­gency which had been issued at 10:30 a.m.

It’s that time of year again, and Delaware’s North­west Neigh­bor­hood Asso­ci­a­tion is striv­ing to spread sea­sonal cheer via its 2012 Hol­i­day Home Tour from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Benefit to raise funds for BV grad’s treatment

Delaware County res­i­dents can be enter­tained while also rais­ing funds for a good cause dur­ing the “Love4Lucas” com­mu­nity fundraiser Sat­ur­day. Lucas Alexan­der, 26, a 2005 grad­u­ate of Buck­eye Val­ley High School, was recently diag­nosed with lym­phoma. Fam­ily mem­bers have joined together to orga­nize both a Delaware State Park disc golf tour­na­ment and Final Score Sports Pub five-band con­cert ben­e­fit to raise funds for treat­ment of Alexander’s con­di­tion. Many indi­vid­u­als and busi­nesses from Delaware County are par­tic­i­pat­ing, pro­vid­ing time, man­power, ser­vices and donations.

Horse show put through its paces by bad weather

It turned out to be quite a week for the Delaware County Junior Fair Horse Show. The wet, muddy con­di­tions due to the con­stant rain post­poned and can­celled most horse show events through­out the fair week, although trail, reign­ing, pat­tern and ver­sa­til­ity classes were able to squeeze in class com­pe­ti­tions Tues­day and Thurs­day in the prac­tice ring, north of the main ring on the fairgrounds.
