The city of Delaware on Dec. 18 announced two taxi cab operators had been licensed to operate in the city, but one of them has been waiting ever since for its drivers to be cleared by criminal background checks.
Delaware city officials didn’t give too much thought to taxi cab regulations when Delaware Cab Co. was operating, Now that the city has been without taxis since September, cab rules are a recurring theme that city council will discuss again Nov. 19.
The building at 18 E. William St., home to The Delaware Gazette for 60 years, will be auctioned Dec. 4. Auctioneer Brent T. Semple of Williamsburg, Ohio, will conduct the sale at 2 p.m.

Voters in Liberty and Orange townships voted down two fire levies Tuesday. Liberty voters rejected a 6.6-mill, five-year fire levy, following one trustee’s calls to defeat the issue.
