Area taxi company still waits for background checks

The city of Delaware on Dec. 18 announced two taxi cab oper­a­tors had been licensed to oper­ate in the city, but one of them has been wait­ing ever since for its dri­vers to be cleared by crim­i­nal back­ground checks.

Former Gazette building to be auctioned Dec. 4

The build­ing at 18 E. William St., home to The Delaware Gazette for 60 years, will be auc­tioned Dec. 4. Auc­tion­eer Brent T. Sem­ple of Williams­burg, Ohio, will con­duct the sale at 2 p.m.

Vot­ers in Lib­erty and Orange town­ships voted down two fire levies Tues­day. Lib­erty vot­ers rejected a 6.6-mill, five-year fire levy, fol­low­ing one trustee’s calls to defeat the issue.

With most of the precincts report­ing, incum­bent Pat Tiberi was far out­dis­tanc­ing his oppo­nent Tues­day night in the race for Ohio’s 12th U.S. Con­gres­sional District.
